OMEGA Awarded Three ACEC Illinois Engineering Excellence Awards, 2019

OMEGA was the proud recipient of three Engineering Excellence Awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies at the Illinois Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Gala. The Illinois Department of Transportation Inbound I-55 at US 41 (Lake Shore Drive) Interchange was awarded an Honor Award.

DuPage County Division of Transportation County Farm Road Resurfacing Improvements and Will County Division of Transportation County Highway #35 (135th Street) Road Construction projects were both awarded Merit Awards.

IDOT’s I-55/Lake Shore Drive Interchange Won 1st Place out of 79 Entries for America’s Transportation Awards, 2019

Illinois Department of Transportation‘s I-55/Lake Shore Drive Interchange won 1st Place out of 79 entries for America’s Transportation Awards sponsored by American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). The project was recognized for, “Increased safety, reduced congestion and cut travel times.”

I-90 Corridor Awarded 2018 CMAA Project Achievement Award

OMEGA is pleased to announce that the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) – Chicago Chapter has selected the Illinois Tollway’s I-90 Construction Corridor Management (CCM) services from Illinois Route 31 to Illinois Route 53 as the recipient of the 2018 CMAA PM over $25M in their Project Achievement Awards Competition. OMEGA was responsible for providing I-90 Construction Corridor Management (CCM) services from Illinois Route 31 to Illinois Route 53 for the Illinois Tollway as part of the 15 year, $14 billion capital program, Move Illinois: The Illinois Tollway Driving the Future. OMEGA managed the activities of 28 construction contracts, 10 prime contractors, and 45 subcontractors. 

There were 31 design and construction engineering consulting firms employing more than 250 engineers; in addition to coordination with 14 utility companies, eight municipalities, and six regulatory agencies. The total cost of the I-90 eastern segment from Elgin to the Kennedy Expressway was valued at $1.2 billion, of which OMEGA oversaw nearly $800 million. OMEGA’s efforts also involved Construction Management services to relocate nearly four miles of Northwest Suburban Municipal Joint Action Water Agency (NSMJAWA) transmission lines serving 500,000 people in seven communities along the corridor valued at $90 million.

Jane Byrne Interchange Awarded 2017 CMAA Infrastructure Project of the Year

OMEGA is pleased to announce that the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) – Chicago Chapter has selected the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Jane Byrne Interchange I-90/94 to I-290 NW Flyover Bridge as the recipient of the 2017 CMAA Infrastructure Project of the Year greater than $25M.  The new six unit 1,978 foot long structure includes a curved section of the bridge on a 540 foot radius that required girders to be erected directly over the Kennedy, Dan Ryan, and Eisenhower Expressways.  

The bridge is supported by 31 piles and 33 drilled shafts cored into bedrock and required fabrication and erection of 4.8 million pounds of structural steel with girders ranging up to 90” deep and 189 feet in length.  OMEGA was proud to serve as the prime Phase III consultant for this challenging interchange project which has resulted in travel and safety improvements in one of the most congested interchanges in the world with over 400,000 daily motorists.   

OMEGA Awarded the IDOT Consultant Exceptional Service Award, 2017

OMEGA is grateful and excited to be the recipient of the Illinois Department of Transportation Consultant Exceptional Service Award for construction engineering of the Jane Byrne Circle Interchange Flyover Bridge in Chicago, IL. This award was nominated by IDOT and was presented at the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of the Illinois Spring Meeting and Awards Luncheon on June 9th, 2017 in Peoria, IL.

OMEGA was proud to serve as the lead engineering firm and mentor an up and coming African American firm, The Roderick Group on this project. Other minority-owned firm team members included GSG Consultants, R & G Engineering, Atlas Engineering, Interra, and Dynasty Group. This challenging interchange project resulted in travel and safety improvements in one of the most congested interchanges in the world with over 400,000 daily motorists.

OMEGA Awarded 2016 APWA Chicago Metro Chapter Project of the Year Award

The IL 59 at I-88 Diverging Diamond Interchange was selected as the APWA Chicago Metro Chapter’s Project of the Year, Transportation of more than $75 million award winner for the year 2016. OMEGA provided construction engineering services for this $100 million IDOT Project, which included the first Diverging Diamond Interchange in the Chicago area.

Before being awarded the Chicago Metro Chapter Award, the IL 59 at I-88 DDI was honored at the APWA Fox Valley Branch for the Public Works Project of the Year in the category Transportation – $25 Million to $75 Million.

OMEGA is the proud recipient of a 2016 Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies – Illinois. The IL 59 at I-88 Diverging Diamond Interchange was awarded an Honor Award, which is given to those projects which are recognized for exceptional engineering that meet the needs of the client and benefit the public welfare.

OMEGA Awarded 2015 APWA Southwest Branch Project of the Year Award

OMEGA, along with HLR, was awarded the 2015 APWA Southwest Branch Project of the Year in Transportation ($5 million to $25 million) for Will County Division of Transportation’s 143rd Street Reconstruction. OMEGA provided construction engineering services for this project which consisted of full depth asphalt pavement reconstruction and widening, pavement resurfacing, storm sewer, detention basins, curb and gutter, traffic signal modernization and landscaping.

OMEGA is the proud recipient of a 2014 Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies – Illinois. The I-90 at IL 47 Interchange project was awarded a Special Achievement Award in the Special Projects category.

OMEGA Receives 2013 ACEC Engineering Excellence

OMEGA is the proud recipient of a 2013 Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies – Illinois. The Stevenson Expressway Resurfacing Bus on Shoulder Lane project was awarded an Honor Award in the Special Projects category. OMEGA provided construction engineering services for this $34 million, 20 mile project for the Illinois Department of Transportation.

OMEGA Awarded 2012 HACIA Mentor/Protégé Award

OMEGA was awarded the 2012 HACIA (Hispanic American Construction Industry Association) Mentor/Protégé Award for their collaboration with CivCon Services on IDOT’s $35 million Stevenson Expressway Resurfacing and Bus on Shoulder Lane Project from I-355 to Kedzie Avenue. The OMEGA/CivCon Mentor-Protégé Agreement was the first IDOT Phase III Mentor/Protégé Agreement to be executed and successfully completed.

OMEGA Receives Several 2012 ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards

OMEGA is the proud recipient of several 2012 Engineering Excellence Awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies – Illinois. The Eisenhower Expressway Resurfacing & Bridge Repairs Project was awarded an Honor Award in the Special Projects category. OMEGA provided construction engineering services for this $66 million project for the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The Stearns Road Corridor Project was also awarded an Honor Award in the Transportation category. OMEGA served as a construction engineering consultant on this $25 million project for Kane County’s Division of Transportation. IL 59 Reconstruction from IL 126 to Caton Farm Road Project was awarded a Merit Award in the Transportation category. OMEGA provided construction engineering services for this $30 million project for the Illinois Department of Transportation. 

OMEGA Awarded 2012 APWA Southwest Branch Project of the Year Award

OMEGA was awarded the 2012 APWA Southwest Branch Project of Year in Transportation ($25 million to $75 million) for IL 59 Reconstruction from IL 126 to Caton Farm Road. OMEGA provided construction engineering services for the Illinois Department of Transportation’s $30 million reconstruction of IL 59. The three year project included widening of the roadway from two to four lanes (two in each direction), curb and gutter improvements, left turn lanes installed at major intersections, median installation, new storm sewers, new water main, new traffic signals, and new roadway lighting.

OMEGA Awarded 2011 ACEC Engineering Excellence Merit Award

OMEGA was awarded the 2011 ACEC Engineering Excellence Merit Award for the Eola Road Interchange at I-88. OMEGA provided construction engineering services for the Illinois Tollway on this $25 million project which included the construction of a new interchange on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) at Eola Road.

OMEGA Awarded 2011 HACIA Project of the Year Award

OMEGA was awarded the 2011 HACIA Project of the Year Award for the Eisenhower Expressway Resurfacing. OMEGA provided construction engineering services for the resurfacing of the $66 million Eisenhower Expressway from I-88 to the Circle Interchange. OMEGA was the prime consultant on this project for the Illinois Department of Transportation and included a minority participation of 90%.

OMEGA was awarded the 2011 Public Works Project Excellence Award by the Chicago Metro Chapter of the APWA for the Stearns Road Bridge Corridor. OMEGA provided construction engineering services for the Kane County Division of Transportation’s $25 million Fox River Bridge Construction from McLean Boulevard to IL 25 near South Elgin.
