Buckeye Partners Petroleum Pipeline

Illinois Tollway

Western Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois
OMEGA provides construction management and utility coordination to facilitate all aspects of a 14” petroleum pipeline running through the footprint of two proposed bridges being built for a $4 billion roadway widening and reconstruction project.

Project Scope

The pipeline, owned and operated by Buckeye Partners, is a vital primary jet fuel service feed to the aviation industry, including O’Hare Airport and Midway Airport. Because the pipeline runs through the proposed footprint of the new structures and cannot be taken offline, it presents significant obstacles to the design, schedule and construction of the project.

As Owner’s Representative and Construction Corridor Manager for the project, OMEGA’s experienced utility team facilitates all aspects of the relocation efforts including extensive coordination with local municipalities, governmental agencies, state and federal agencies, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, utility agencies, property acquisition, Metropolitan Water Reclamation DistrictWaters of the United States, and multiple railroads including Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and Canadian National Railway
